چکیده

The paper proposes a restoration method for speckled images generated by coherent imaging systems (e.g., synthetic aperture radar, synthetic aperture sonar, ultrasound imaging, and laser imaging). These systems are invariably affected by speckle noise and therefore restoration/filtering of the mean backsattered signal (backsacttering coefficient) is often necessary. The approach is Bayesian: the observed image is assumed to be a realization of a random field built upon the physical mechanism of image generation; the backscattering coefficient image is modelled by a compound Gauss-Markov random field which enforces smoothness on homogeneous regions while preserving discontinuities between neighboring regions. The maximum a posteriori probability (MAP) criterion is adopted. An expectation maximization type iterative scheme embeded in a a continuation algorithm is used to compute the MAP solution. Application examples performed on radar real and synthetic data are presented.

Statistical Quality Analysis of Wavelet Based SAR Images in Despeckling Process

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images are mainly denoised by multiplicative speckle noise, which is due to the consistent behavior of scattering phenomenon known as speckle noise. This paper presents the basic concept, role and importance of Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) in the field of despeckling SAR images and also offers a study of SAR image quality on applying DWT on the speckled image ...

Separated Component-Based Restoration of Speckled SAR Images Report Title Many coherent imaging modalities such as Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) suffer from a multiplicative noise commonly referred to as speckle which often makes the interpretation of data difficult. An effective strategy for speckle reduction is to use a dictionary that can sparsely represent the features in the speckled imag...

Pixel Classification of SAR ice images using ANFIS-PSO Classifier

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is playing a vital role in taking extremely high resolution radar images. It is greatly used to monitor the ice covered ocean regions. Sea monitoring is important for various purposes which includes global climate systems and ship navigation. Classification on the ice infested area gives important features which will be further useful for various monitoring proces...

Speckle reduction with adaptive stack filters

Stack filters are a special case of non-linear filters. They have a good performance for filtering images with different types of noise while preserving edges and details. A stack filter decomposes an input image into stacks of binary images according to a set of thresholds. Each binary image is then filtered by a Boolean function, which characterizes the filter. Adaptive stack filters can be c...
